Hydrospace PNS ProBio™ is a concentrated blend of live purple nonsulfur bacteria (PNSB) designed to provide your reef aquarium with a natural source of microbial nutrition while helping process organic waste and excess nutrients.

Unlike many foods that add nutrients and organic waste to your aquarium, PNS ProBio™ is designed to feed your reef while helping clean up after itself. The live bacteria can become a natural food source for corals, filter feeders, and other organisms while contributing to nutrient cycling and a healthier aquarium microbiome.

A Live Food That Helps Your Aquarium

PNS ProBio™ contains three carefully selected PNSB species:

  • Rhodopseudomonas palustris
  • Rhodospirillum rubrum
  • Rhodobacter sphaeroides

These bacteria have different capabilities that work together as a diverse microbial community. They can utilize organic compounds and help process difficult-to-break-down wastes while assimilating excess nutrients. Some PNSB are also capable of denitrification, helping support natural nitrogen cycling within the aquarium.

Perfect for Reef Aquariums

PNS ProBio™ can be used in mixed reefs, SPS and LPS systems, soft coral aquariums, fish-only systems, frag tanks, and aquaculture applications.

It can be dosed directly into the aquarium or used to condition porous rock and biological filter media, helping introduce the bacteria directly where they can establish and thrive.

How to Use

Shake well before use.

Dose 1.25 mL per gallon of aquarium water daily. Begin with the recommended dose and adjust gradually according to your aquarium's needs.

For best results, turn off your protein skimmer, UV sterilizer, and ozone generator for approximately 1 hour after dosing to allow the live bacteria to remain in the system.

PNS ProBio™ can also be added directly to food or used to inoculate porous biological media.
